Shepherds Cot Trust – Space to Play

Summer 2025

Summer is a comin’ in! So after many wet days we wish all clubs, students and general public who use our special green site a safe and enjoyable time.

Shepherds Cot Trust continues to support Sustainability in a number of areas including avoiding plastic and litter on site and encouraging sustainable transport: walking and cycling being  preferred.  Good for you and good for the Cot!

In the Autumn we shall be trialling a walkway for pedestrians and cyclists only along Cot way so that cars will park mainly in the two car parking areas of Cot Way and Shepherds Lane.

As you will see there are are number of changes occurring on the Cot which has involved the legal removal of trees. We all wish Shepherds Cot to be a sporting oasis for generations to come and be assured that replanting will take place. And when funds allow we very much wish to continue to make the site even more welcoming and accessible to all.

As ever, do take care as you walk around the Cot. We regularly check trees for health, but in stormy weather anything is possible… the summers can also be hot and bring out the insects that bite. So we advise that you have sun cream at the ready and bite cream too!

Oh and also look out for those flying missiles – CRICKET BALLS!!

The Trust thanks all in the community who help maintain the safety and beauty of this unique area including CREOS and the local Police.
